Kultrum

How to conjugate the perfect pitch of a string quartet with the morbid thoughts of a bandéon? It's difficult especially when the logic of the answer is denied by the passion for love. Has improvisation space for some planned score? A compromise is no solution, and negotiation is unsatisfactory. At ECM Dino Saluzzi recorded his work together with the Rosamunde quartet, Kultrum.

Zero tolerance.

Farewell

Henk Jan, a colleague who transformed himself into a friend, gave me a wonderful farewell present. A CD of Satie, played by Ciccolini. It starts with the famous Gymnopédie, which, in my ignorance, I had as tune for my mobile phone. It's very intimate music. While listening to it, I declared my zero tolerance for mediocrity, a program that I would like to mantain for the rest of my life.

Sunny day

It's already 2 weeks ago, but it deserves mentioning anyhow. It was sunny and warm, so I went visiting Nanni. We went walking at stippelberg, I was carrying Julia, he was carrying Nemo. It was nice, and relaxing, and we chat about our family lives and our dreams.

Le terme

Holidays are necessary. We live our lives doing things we wouldn't do, if there was not the promise of holidays and vacation; we dream of freedom, inspiration and renewal. Some of us go skiing, others climb active vulcanos, or dive into the red sea, others lie on the Canarian beaches. Pepe Carvalho goes to the therms, trying to wash his body from all the sins he committed on him. But even on vacation we cannot escape the boredome of our lives and the roles we play so well. Pepe is confronted again with a delict, and with the human attempts of finding an acceptable truth for it. Among chubby ladies with obscene tits, ex-colonels, communist writers and german industrials, Pepe acts as if he were among the ramblas of Barcelona, and waits for the event to occur to him.

Emiliana Torrini

Another beautiful present from Daniele: Emiliana Torrini. Daniele and I had a big argument on music, on how complex it should be, and what determines the real quality of it. Daniele talkes about interpretation, and feelings, and usually I am not in that wavelenght. Not this time, with this artist. Her simplicity is never banal, is just purity. And just with a few lines, she brings us an enormity of moods. To be taken in small dosis.

Sunny Road

Wrote you this
I hope you got it safe
It's been so long
I don't know what to say
I've travelled 'round
Through deserts on my horse
But jokes aside
I wanna come back home
You know that night
I said I had to go
You said you'd meet me
On the sunny road

It's time, meet me on the sunny road
it's time, meet me on the sunny road

I never married
Never had those kids
I loved too many
Now heaven's closed its gates.
I know I'm bad
To jump on you like this
Some things don't change
My middle name's still 'Risk'
I know that night
So long long time ago
Will you still meet me
On the sunny road

It's time, meet me on the sunny road
It's time, meet me on the sunny road

Well, this is it
I'm running out of space
Here is my address
And number just in case.
This time as one
We'll find which way to go
Now come and meet me
On the sunny road
