Multiples and coefficients

Answering a comment of another post, I have found a nice strange ring.


Interesting how a number and its representation can enjoy the very same property. Therefore (3) can become (1). Get on top of it, assume its role, even exchange roles. I love it!

I did not find it anywhere. A friend of mine asked me how the trick worked (see comments on Gödel, Escher and Bach), and I worked it out myself. I will send you the original open-office sheet as evidence.
