A great CD. Piano and trumpet. The trumpet is Enrico Rava, probably the most famous italian jazzist. At the piano Renato Sellani. I could not find the Cd on Amazon, neither on their official web sites. But I found it on eMule!!! The formula is simple, a number of standards played, pretty classically; very relaxing for these dark days.

Duet

Yesterday a friend of mine stayed in my place. She lives in Amsterdam, and wanted to fly from Eindhoven, but it was very misty, and her flight was canceled. We spent a day together. We even played together a duet. I am a bad jazz amateur double-bass player, and she is a classical professional violist. We played some Christmas songs for the kids. How nice it is to play like that. For me it was wonderful, her sound was so pure. Music is a wonderful thing.

Another noticeable thing is the fact that we are friends, and it feels like old and deep friendship, even though we barely know each other. And that's good.

Nice program, especially the Tzigane from Ravel was impressive. The japanise solist demonstrated a great technique. We go the tickets from Monica, who happens to play there every now and then. After the concert we went drinking something together. Monica is very special - funny and relaxed. It felt like we were friends from ages.

The dinstinction between "natural" and "artificial" is artificial.

Back pain

Again some intense back pain. I am practically blocked. My lower back muscle is aching. But now I have identified the mechanism that causes this disturb to me. After sporting, I did not get the chance of a shower, or at least changing my clothes: therefore my sweat dried on my back, an innocent forgiveness in Sicily, but a mistake that deserve punishment in the dutch climate.

NP3

It's not a typo, and it's not about WinAmp or iPod. It's about a record of Niels Petter Molvaer I got in touch with him by mistake. Sometimes ago, I received a CD-bon as a present, I went to a shop, and sniffed around the jazz-CD. At that time I have found Kmer, an album which would have been great as sound-track for a porn movie - it has always been my ambition, to compose and perform a soundtrack for a porn movie. I loved the album, but could not find anything of him until recently, after installing eMule. I guess Molvaer is not that well distributed. This norwegian trumpetist deluded me with Er, his most recent record; I found it too obvious, and how to say...less musical.

Today I have discovered NP3. A great album, where the trumpet, played with a lot of spoiled-air and simple melodies, joins perfectly with the sequencers.

Matematica

Una professoressa di Matematica ha fatto un pompino ad uno dei suoi allievi, mentre altri due, lí presenti, si masturbavano in quantitá. Professoressa subito indagata per violenza sui minori. Al paese non ci vuole tornare, ché verrebbe subito rovinata dal pettegolezzo. Ma che indagini, ma che inchiesta, ma che dicerie...le dovrebbero fare un monumento!!!

Ora il tema é in realtá delicato. Gli allievi sono tutti minorenni, e quindi formalmente l'indagine penale é piú che corretta. Questi allievi sono, secondo un preciso comunicato stampa, parte di una scuola disagiata di periferia del hinterland milanese. Secondo un altro altrettanto preciso comunicato, 'sti allievi sono benestanti e figli di papá, peró disagiati. E in mezzo al disagio hanno trovato una professoressa disposta a fare gli scritti e gli orali. E che male c'é? O vogliamo fare finta che i nostri figli a 15 anni non abbiano una sessualitá? A parte il caso tragicomico in questione, mi domando quale sia il criterio etico per la sessualitá fra minorenni, o fra minorenni e maggiorenni (quest'ultima penalmente perseguibile).
Come si fa a salvaguardare i deboli ed i minorenni dalle violenze sessuali, e a garantire una sessualitá libera per i minorenni? Io non lo so. Certo che quando avevo 15 anni, alla mia supplente di italiano avrei fatto delle cose bellissime!!!

Dibattito

Ieri sera ho visto una cosa bellissima in televisione. Un dibattito politico. Certo é piú che normale che ci sia un dibattito politico durante la campagna elettorale; ma la cosa che mi ha reso questo dibattito cosí interessante é che il dibattito é stato fatto per bambini. I quattro capilista dei piú importanti partiti olandesi, fra i quali l'attuale primo ministro, si sono scontrati su temi difficili ed importanti, ed anno risposto in diretta alle domande che i bambini in sala hanno posto. L'ambiente, l'immigrazione, il sistema scolastico. Un'ora e mezza, in prima serata. Domande serie, ai quali questi politici hanno risposto seriamente, con un linguaggio comprensibile e adattato al pubblico dei bambini.

Ancora una volta mi rendo conto come i bambini, in questo paese, abbiano un posto nella societá civile. Che gran bella dimostrazione di civiltá. Adesso tocca a noi italiani organizzare qualcosa di simile per le prossime elezioni!!!

Julia ill

Julia is ill. Again. Otitis. So she got antibiotics. She had quite some fever last days, but now things are getting better. She is sleeping in our bedroom, and she is quite weak. We were hesitant to contact the physician; in the Netherlands you are supposed to suffer 3 days of fever before you should call your doctor. But I am not dutch, so I insisted, and of course, I was right. I think they should do something about their medical system. This calvinistic attraction for the pain and acceptance is just inhuman.

Un bel CD mi sto ascoltando. Un Paolo Fresu diverso, giocherellone, mi ha sorpreso. Lo conoscevo sognante e mediterraneo, ed invece un CD con suoni diversi. Davvero bello

Ultimamente ho riscoperto Lucio Battisti; che belle melodie, mai banali. Alcune canzoni sono veramente capolavori: E penso a te, Ancora tu, Una donna per amico, Le tre veritá, Innocenti evasioni, Amarsi un po'....

Voting

Of course, I am not allowed to vote in this country. But I was curious anyhow to understand to which party I should have voted if I could: here is the result according the "kieskompas":
So, I have it confirmed once again. I am one of th few in this country that is really progressive, and I am slightly on the right side. However, if I could I would not vote them. They behaved too amatouristically in the last years, and reached no result in spite of the fact that they have been in the government for a very long time.

If I could vote, I guess I would not this time.

Radiators

Finally!!!

We do have radiators in this house. Thanks to the hard work of Nanni and Peter, after 5 hours of mounting, we managed in the end to complete the operation!!!! During the work we got hungry, so we decided to eat something. Note the detail of the missing radiator on the background.

Thanks also to Willem and Ben who transported the radiators in the last weeks to the factory

Injuries

I had to stop my running training. In Sicily, during our holidays, I have suffered from back pain. I have tried to run on a hill, which was too challenging to me, since I am not used to the steep slopes. On top of that, my knee started aching lately, so I decided to be more careful with my trainings.

I have decided to try another training, at ASICS website they provide a good tool for free, and the training looks good. There are also some exercises for warming up, stretching and strenght.

Gita in Sicilia

Siamo stati in Sicilia. Ecco il resoconto che Edo ha voluto stilare su questa gita. Un estratto delle foto al piú presto:


GITE
...per raggiungere la valle dell'Anapo abbiamo chiesto informazioni ad un operoso impiegato della guardia forestale che si stava tatuando l'ultimo centimetro quadrato del corpo all'ombra di un carrubbo: lui ci ha detto di "non abbandonare mai la strada a destra dei sicchiuni" e noi l'abbimo seguita tutta. Abbiamo abbandonato invece il cane e percorso lunghe gallerie buie e piene di ragnatele; abbiamo mangiato scacciata coi broccoli e tirato pietre al fiume facendo "ploffete" oppure "plof, plof, plof, ploffete!"

Siamo stati alla spiaggia della marchesa, la marchesa non c'era, anzi non c'era proprio nessuno, tant'é che abbiamo praticato il seminudismo (solo peppe) e fatto foto ai deretani 2006. Il cane (recuperato) si é esibito nel nuoto sincronizzato con bastone in bocca. abbiamo fatto del nuoto.

siamo stati a Noto e non abbiamo notato niente! (a parte un tizio che si grattava lo scroto sulla moto con lo sguardo nel vuoto) abbiamo mangiato altra scacciata.

siamo andati alla baia "calamosche", solidarizzato (bastardi!) con dei transalpini scavatori di buche e con la loro mamma tettona. Abbiamo visto uno straordinario e grosso pesce dai riflessi cangianti verde/azzurri inseguire piccoli e banali pesci dal colore normale. Ho mangiato fichidindia insipidi e siamo stati punti dalle mosche della siaggia omonima

Siamo stati sull'etna, abbiamo vito le farfalle (non ci hanno punto) ed altri insetti strani. Abbiamo mangiato pane condito ed altra scacciata. Siamo saliti fino al cratere di sud-est ed abbiamo camminato sulla lava tiepida, abbiamo visto scorrere la roccia liquida e saltare in aria massi come divani e sassetti come tavolini: julia si é addormentata.


EVENTI NEFASTI
colpo della strega, crisi d'asma, emorroidi, nausee, spine al piede ed ansia da abbandono: per fortuna divise tra quattro persone adulte ed un cane. Julia é stata benissimo!!!
tutto guarito anche grazie alla farmacologia


CIBO
a parte la scacciata, che ha rappresentato il 50% della nostra dieta, abbiamo mangiato carne di cavallo, vitello, maiale e carne di pauro che peró é un pesce.


SOLDI
Sono state effettuate compere in vari negozi/supermarket ed infine alla Coin spendendo ben piú di una coin (gioco di parole inglese)


VISITE
Abbiamo visto la Madrina, la Signorina Maria ed i nonni Grillo mangiato boscottini, salsiccia e pasta al forno
Non abbiamo visto Marzia da intimissimo ne piero, giancarlo o altri.

Siamo stati bene, abbiamo bevuto buon vino, fatto colazioni insieme, fumato sigari e gioito della reciproca compagnia anche solo stando seduti sul divano o guardando cartoni o assistendo alle dispute tra julia e mattely che si contendevano api o l'osso

Speriamo che tutto questo si ripeta presto, a catania ad eindhoven o in qualunque altro posto...

Drielandenpunt

A week of holidays, at the Drielandenpunt in Vaals, NL. We joint Nanni, Enith and kids with the whole family, and spent a couple of days walking, playing, doing sauna, massage and bubblebath.
At the drielandenpunt Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands converge in one point. The event is celebrated by a very nice labyrinth, which rensembles the three edges and the three national symbols. It looks like a stupid labyrinth, but it took us the needed 45 minutes to be able to crack it!!! This place is as well the highest place in the Netherlands, with a ridiculous 323m!!!

Today we visited a zoo in Kerkrade. It has been relaxing and funny, we all loved it. On the way back the exaust of our car broke down. It will cause us a lot of troubles. I will have to rent a car tomorrow, in order to be able to drive to Brussel Airport; next week we go to Sicily, another week of holidays, lucky us.

Jogging

Yesterday was the turn for my jogging session. 5 times 3 minutes of fast running, with 2 minutes walking interval. In total I have covered 3740, according to Google Earth. It has been heavy, those 3 minutes seem to last forever, and it takes quite some time before I was able to recover breath for the next session. Today my legs are aching a bit, but things are still ok.

I wonder whether I will be able to run during my holidays. The scheme will get heavier and heavier, and I am not allowed to skip anything....

Tomorrow I will un my 12 minutes of D1.

Jogging

I started jogging. It is not really my favourite sport, but it is very easy for me: it requires not too much time, and I can do it whenever it fits my agenda.
Starting has been difficult. I felt my legs were very heavy. Even before I could feel short of breath, my muscles were aching....After the 3rd time things were already better. I could run 20 minutes without problems, covering a bit less then 3 km. This is of course a grandma performance, but it's a start....

In order to do it properly, I got a training scheme in this site. They have a lot of training schemes, for every type of goal.Today I started with the first exercise: 4 times 4 minutes running with 2 minutes walking interval. It went great!!!

Weekend

Strange weekend. Friday I went out with some friends, and danced some Merengue (it has been a century ago last time). Saturday was as stressy as relaxing. Kyara got her swimming diploma, after that we went collecting some sample tiles for the kitchen. In the afternoon we visited Nanni and Enith. Ryan was celebrating his birthday.

We left in a rush, because Loes was expected at a party organised by her colleagues. So, I was let alone with the kids: it's s non stop activity taking care of them on your own, there's always something happening or something to do.

Kyara got her Swimming Diploma - B. It was a nice morning, in spite of the hangover from the day before. She was tensed, somehow children get very nervous about this.

Biking

Marco visited me this weekend. We talked a lot, of new and old life, nature, music friends, love. But most of all we biked. Marco forgot his GPS, so I am not able to trace the route we biked with satellite precision. Let's say we wandered in the neibourhood of Eindhoven and we even reached Oirschot. On the way back we biked through a bush, and ended up sitting in a open space. Great.

In the evening we watched Jackass. Just stupid laughing at some stunts, some of which do not seem genuine to me, but some nice attitude to life.....I believe it is a man movie.

Double bass

Finally, it's there. I have rented a double bass. I had to go to Breda to find a good "liutaio". It was very nice to be there. A shop that made me think of old times. A "liutaio" is nothing less than a carpenter specialized in a very beautiful and difficult instrument class: the strings.

I have started playing with it. It's an experience. The instrument is taller than I am, I have to embrace it to play it. The tuning is identical to my electric bass, but the fingering is completely different. I am experimenting on the "first position" and I am enjoying myself playing small children song with it. Goodbye to all the theory, the melodic scales, the dimished and the esatonics. Back to basics....

Next year I will buy one, If I will learn enough from this one.

Broken car

My car is broken. The battery seems to leak somewhere, and after a night it is not able to start again. It's the 2nd time in one week. I am a little bit fed up. It's the 3rd time in one month I have trouble with my car. Ok, I make a lot of kilometers (30.000 per year), but still....very annoying. I guess it's time to buy a new one.

Monsterhuis

Today we went with Milo and Kyara to watch Monsterhuis. Very nice movie. It is rated 6+, but Kyara did not seem to be very impressed or scared by her. The plot is nice and with a nice twist, the effects are grandious, and the "acting" is superb. I would advise it also to adults.

Anke, our neighbour and Kyara's friend, came with us. A real family event!!

Chatting

I'm using the computer more and more. Lately I am chatting a lot. I have discovered chatting because I was trying to do some VoIP and you get usually a chat program with it. It was just a way to communicate with my sister in Italy. But then I have discovered that a lot of friends are on the web. It's a different way to communicate. Talking on a phone is faster, and sometimes nicer, but chatting is much more convenient, it's different.
It happened to me to encounter even a couple of people that wanted to chat with me. That gives a strange sensation, like the CB radio when I was a kid. It seems to authentic, you tend to open yourself, but then it feels also so false. Chatting with someone on the other side of the world, someone you will never meet....it feels like pretending.

Party

Today there was this party. A barbeque with friends and families, children playing all around and all the rest. I was looking forward to it. With all the efforts of the moving and restructuring of the last weeks, I did not have the chance to speak to friends, even whilst they were next to me, helping.
But then I was there, and I couldn't. I did not have much to say. It is always like that with me. I hate those parties where there's nothing to do, but just sitting around and having a chat. I always find myself with not much to say to others; I know it's me, because everybody else seems to enjoy and love this kind of party. I prefer doing things with friends, more than speaking.

Moving (2)

Because of moving I will be out of the virtual world for a couple of days, starting from friday and ending I do not know when. I hope to be back soon. Who knows, maybe the internet will even miss me.

Moving

Saturday we will move. Our house is full of boxes. It is actually a big mess. I have found out that I have too much stuff. Things that I thought were important and ended up in a closet somewhere and forgot for years....

In the meanwhile I am preparring the new house. Today I put floors. Floors are easy. Floors are good. It's the frame that is a piece of shit.

In the meanwhile I have listened to some good Alex de Grassi and some Cassandra Wilson as well (her Glamour album is great).

MUSICA

Ho scaricato il CD di Carmen Consoli, Eva contro Eva. Un bel CD, non c'é che dire. La mia concittadina canta meglio di prima, sa modulare la voce molto meglio e dá piú espressione alle sue canzoni. Le melodie sono migliorate, e anche gli arrangiamenti sono piú maturi, e lasciano un po' di spazio a modulazioni e armonie interessanti. Peró....peró c'é un po' troppa ripetizione e poca fantasia, pare di aver ascoltato certe canzoni giá prima. L'espediente dei testi spezzati l'abbiamo giá sentito, ed ha stancato un po'. E certi testi sono davvero brutti. Linguaggio artificiale, con parole grosse che peró non sono né precise né evocative; anzi, sono quasi burocratiche. Peccato.

Ho ascoltato da qui dei Massimo Volume, e mi piace. Il suono é un po' cambiato, meno distorsione e meno ripetizioni di chitarra. Le atmosfere sono superbe e cupe, profonde ed inquietanti. Le liriche quasi urlate e mai cantate si allacciano benissimo alla musica. Gran bella batteria, e bella composizione, nonostante gli evidenti limiti tecnici di questa band.

E Caparezza mi fa sorridere parecchio. É bravo ed intelligente. Certo nel suo canto copia tanto da Busta Rhymes, ma alcune trovate sono fantastiche. In Habemus Capa si distinguono soprattutto gli insetti del potere, felici matrimoni, e ninna-nanna mazzaró. Bravo, un po' moralista - lo voglio vedere a 40 anni.

Ed infine un tocco di Fado con Mariza. Che brava.

Julia ha fatto 2 anni, e l'abbiamo festeggiato con amici e famiglia a casa.

Milo ha ottenuto il diploma A di nuoto!!!! É stato bravissimo, ha nuotato molto molto bene e ha finalmente ottenuto questo importante diploma. Adesso Milo puó nuotare in piscina nelle vasche per adulti. Congratulazioni Milo!!!

Birthday

Tomorrow I will become 33, the age of Christ when he was 33. We have already celebrated in the family. I have got a book on chocolade based recepies, an extension of the Colonists game (Cheops and Alexander the Great) and a fantastic espresso machine. We have spent the day at home, and did not do anything special; and that was great.

For me it was better this way. I have been ill for 2 weeks, and tomorrow I will start working again. Better take it easy.

Celebration with family and friends will be on the 14th. We will celebrate at the same time the birthday of Julia and Milo - pretty busy!!!

di questo pianista jazz italiano ho ascoltato il disco "Storie di Tenco", in cui canzoni di Tenco vengono reinterpretate insieme ad Ada Montellanico. Il pianista ha grande stile e compostezza, e mi sono interessato. Allora ho scoperto le Storie di Nausicaa insieme con Enrico Rava, un quartetto nientedimeno che con Charlie Haden, Chet Baker e Billy Higgins, e altre perle musicali. Prezioso.

Sophie and Jasmijn are born

On Thursday the 30th Jasmijn and Sophie were born. Lizanne's sisters, Johan and Yvonne's daughters. They are therefore my nieces. Everything went fast but fine. Yvonne is already at home with the complete family. Pictures will come soon.

Malato sono

Oggi sono malato. Non ero malato da piú di un anno. Non ci sono abituato. Sono solo un po' raffreddato, ma la cosa non é affatto piacevole. Passo la giornata ad aggiustare la mia cd-teca virtuale e quella reale, per il resto sento freddo e aspetto di guarire.

A couple today visited our house, and made an offer we could not refuse!!!! We are very happy, but now we really have to organise everything. It is such a mess - my god!!!!

It's carnival, and it is time for Julia and Loes to party!!! They decided to dress like Wilma of the Flintstones. Here's the result. The dress is handmade by Loes, impressive isn't it? Further pictures are here.

Abbiamo comprato casa!!!!

Abbiamo comprato casa finalmente. Ovvero, ancora é tutto un po' approssimativo, perché abbiamo solo un accordo verbale con l'intermediario, ma in pratica le cose sono fatte. Si tratta di una bella casa, grande e spero accogliente; anzi ne sono sicuro, perché Loes ne fará una casa bellissima. Io ho richiesto di ingrandire il bagno (troppo piccolo, solo 2x2m) e per il resto mi accontento di tutto. Anzi no, insieme con la casa compreró un bel contrabbasso; adesso che lo spazio c'é, non me lo faccio mica mancare.

I have decided to dedicate more time to photography. Glamour and fashion photography are interesting to me, because of the technique complexity and the eastheticy feeling - that has to trade with a commercial impact. I have selected my model and experimented with this set.

Kyara si é divertita parecchio al campionato di ginnastica. Le piace un sacco. La barra di equilibrio e le parallele asimmetriche sono le sue occupazioni preferite. Le foto sono su flicker ovviamente.

Tanti Auguri Kyara!!!

Abbiamo festeggiato 2 volte il compleanno di Kyara. Prima con una festa per i bambini. Julia, Stacey e Imke hanno dipinto dei quadri, ed infine abbiamo mangiato patatine fritte e snacks all'olandese.

L'indomani abbiamo festeggiato in famiglia.

Radiohead and Jazz

Have you heard Radiohead? Of course you had, you cannot escape pop, it's everywhere and Radiohead had their bit of fame as well. And that's even good, since their albums are very good and really deserve their fame. And that is demonstrated also by the way several jazz musicians have dedicated their attention to Radiohead's song. To my knowledge, everything begun with the master piece Exit music, as played by Brad Meldhau in his Art of the Trio vol.3 - the piece raised the interest of contemporary jazz musicians to Radiohead. Meldhau has performed several other pieces from them, like Paranoid Android. But other artists played a tribute to them as well; Chris Potter played Morning Sun, if I am not mistaken. Jazz versions of Radiohead's music, I will reccommend to everyone.
